The
Jody Counter Band is a mix of Rock & Roll, Driving Blues,
and R&B performed by a tight rhythm section highlighted by
Jody's stunning guitar work.
In addition to their regular schedule of public and private performances
The Jody Counter Band has opened for Eric Burdon & The New
Animals, Neil Schon and the Piranha Blues Band featuring Neil
Schon (Journey), Ross Valorie (Journey), Prairie Prince (The
Tubes) and Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani), and The Detroit Disciples.
Over the years Jody has played & toured with numerous musicians
& bands:
The Rocky Sullivan Band headlining their own shows and opening
for artists such as Paul Butterfield, John Cipollina (Quicksilver
Messenger Service), Greg Douglass (Steve Miller), Kingfish (Bob
Weir) and Barry Melton (Country Joe).
Monte Mac & The Blues Attack with Ansley Dunbar (Jeff Beck
Journey The Mothers).
Jody Counter's guitar work has appeared on Blues Bureau International
Records' At The Station, Mike Onesko's Blind Side Blues Band
and Mundai Owens' Natural Selection.
The 4th Saturday of each month for the last 4 years has been
Jody's regular performance slot at The Tradewinds in
Cotati. The Winds as
it is often referred to is the premier Sonoma County music venue.
It is known as a musician's bar. In the packed crowd on any of
his Saturday nights you will find a large number local and passing
through musicians who come to hear one of their best.
Through the years many musicians have sat in with Jody. Some
of the more notable are Phil Ajioka (Los Blues), the late Stu Blank (Nasty Habits), Deen Castronovo
(Journey), Levi Lloyd, Steve Long (Pulsators), Brock Spurgeon
(Bone Dry), Mike Varney (Pat Travers), David Verno (Jackson Stone),
and Peter Welker (Cold Blood).
It is common to see people in the crowd watching Jody pull off
a 'solo' with their mouth's open. Most people dance, some just
stare. The band has something for everybody. Whether you like
it hard or soft, fast or slow, The Jody Counter Band puts on
a great show. --John
